We Bought a House!
This might be the latest introduction EVER, but things have been a little nuts for us this past year, so documenting life on the blog was put on the back burner, big time. So — better late than never — meet the Hello Cabin! Our little haven.
When we saw the listing for this house, our immediate reaction was, “What a weird-looking house. And WHERE is the front door?” But that oddball charm reeled us in immediately. It has so many things to love: cedar shake siding (my favorite piece of the strange patchwork-quilt exterior), vaulted ceilings, a view of the water from a big front deck, and a fun surprise inside: a loft above the kitchen!
We looked at probably a dozen houses, all in different areas of town, but we just kept coming back to this one. It definitely needs updates, desperately, but the bones of the house are good so we knew it was a renovation we could handle (i.e. no structural work). It’s a good size for our family, with plenty of room for Edie to play, without being full of wasted spaces (a problem we felt with our last house). For a full tour of the main level in all its 70s glory, and to hear a rundown of the initial renovation plans, head to my Instagram and check the #hellocabin highlight. I can’t wait to show you what we have in store!
